Automatic Trans Repair & Rebuild

We diagnose, repair and rebuild most automatic transmissions for cars, trucks, and SUVS.  Whether you're dealing with slipping gears, delayed shifting, or complete failure, our technicians focus on accurate diagnostics and long-term reliability.  We handle performance applications, diesel transmissions and heavy-duty rebuilds for work trucks and specialty vehicles.  Built for strength, durability, and real-world use.

Manual Trans & Clutch Service

From clutch replacements to full manual transmission repairs, we service standard transmissions.  Some we rebuild in house, but most we can find reliable replacements for.  Smooth shifting starts with the right repair.

Transfer Case & Differentials

We service and repair transfer cases and differentials for 4WD and AWD vehicles, helping restore proper power distribution and performance both on and off the road.

Engine repair & general auto service

Beyond transmissions, we offer engine repairs and select general automotive services.  This allows us to address related issues efficiently and keep you vehicle running as a whole - not just one component.

why transmission service matters

Routine transmission service plays a critical role in the longevity and durability of your transmission.  Clean fluid helps maintain proper lubrication and cooling, while replacing the filter when applicable helps prevent debris from circulating through the system.  Proper service can reduce wear, improve performance, and help prevent costly repairs over time.

Not all transmission flushes are the same.  Some flushes simply clean and reuse the existing filter rather than replacing it, which can allow trapped debris to remain in the system.  At Rick Nylund Transmissions, we use a safer, more controlled flush process and replace the transmission filter whenever possible.  This approach helps protect internal components and ensures the transmission is serviced correctly - not just quickly.

Frequently Asked Questions

Have questions about transmission repair or what to expect? We've answered some of the most common questions below to help you feel informed and confident before scheduling service.

Common signs include slipping gears, delayed shifting, unusual noises, warning lights, or leaking fluid.  If you notice any of these symptoms, it's best to have your vehicle checked before the issue worsens.  In many cases, continuing to drive can cause further damage.  If your vehicle is slipping, overheating, or not shifting properly, we recommend having it inspected as soon as possible.

We specialize in transmission rebuilds and repairs whenever possible.  Rebuilding allows us to address the specific problem and often provides a more reliable, cost-effective solution than replacement.  However, some transmissions are not rebuildable and must be replaced due to parts not being available or special tools required.  After diagnosing your vehicle, we'll explain your options and recommend the best solution for your situation.

Yes! Routine transmission service helps extend the life and durability of your transmission by keeping the fluid clean and components properly lubricated.  When possible, replacing the transmission filter during service helps prevent debris buildup and can reduce wear over time.  Regular service is one of the best ways to avoid costly repairs down the road.

Costs vary depending on the vehicle and the issue.  After diagnosis, we'll provide a clear explanation and estimate before any repairs begin.
